LGBTQ+ Therapist
LOS ANGELES
Gender and sexuality play an important part in our identities. While it can be exciting to start a journey of self-discovery and acceptance, it can also be challenging at times. You might feel confused or alone as you try to learn more about who you are.
Whether you want support on your path of self-reflection or simply need a therapist who you know will affirm your identity, our Los Angeles therapists are here to help.
While your gender and sexual orientation are not the only piece of your identity, you deserve an inclusive, affirming space to process the challenges in your life (and celebrate your victories!). Connecting with an allied or gay therapist in Los Angeles can be the first step in feeling validated, heard, and supported.
Our team will provide for you a safe place to learn more about yourself and what you need. Reach out today to learn more about how we can support you on your journey.
Our Approach to LA LGBTQ+ Therapy
People of all orientations and genders are welcome at A Little Light Psychotherapy Group. We recognize that you are the expert of your own individual experience, and our goal is to make you feel validated and affirmed.
We know that LGBTQ+-identifying folks may face challenges, discrimination, and homophobia based solely on orientation or identity. The therapy room is a safe space to process these experiences.
As LGBTQ+ therapists and allies in Los Angeles, we aim to meet you where you are with kindness, respect, compassion, and empathy. We want to empower you to be your most authentic self, while also creating space to acknowledge how that can be difficult at times.
While those of us who identify as LGBTQ+ share a common community, we acknowledge that each person needs different things out of therapy. Our team of allied and gay therapists in Los Angeles work with each client individually to create a customized treatment plan.
Our therapists use different techniques depending on our training and experience, and depending on what you need. Some approaches we use include dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and more.
Our group of LGBTQ therapists in Los Angeles are here to help guide and comfort you through the challenges in your life (and celebrate milestones and successes, too). We want to help you embrace who you are.

FAQs About LGBTQ+ Counseling in Los Angeles
It’s normal to have questions about the therapy process, especially if you’ve never been in counseling before. We’ve answered a few common questions below, but feel free to reach out if yours isn’t answered here. Our therapists are happy to talk with you and give you the information you need.

Each therapist is different, just as each client is different. Everyone has a unique experience with the therapy process based on a number of factors. However, many people have commonalities when engaging in counseling.
The goal of therapy usually involves improving your life in some way. This often involves growing your understanding of yourself and your goals. Every part of your identity is important, including your gender, sexuality, and beyond.
You and your therapist will work together to set more specific goals that are tailored to you. It’s also okay if you don’t know exactly what you hope to get out of therapy–simply wanting support is enough.

No–absolutely not. When speaking with our therapists, your information is kept strictly confidential. We respect your privacy and dignity on a human level, and we are also bound by law to keep your information safe.
We use a HIPAA-compliant platform for our video sessions, meaning that our calls are conducted in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. You can rest assured knowing that your information is not at risk of being shared with anyone you haven’t authorized.
There are certain life-threatening circumstances that may require us to share some of your information–not all of it. These situations arise when yours or someone else’s lives are in imminent danger. Your therapist will tell you more about these scenarios at your first appointment.
